Bike Maintenance Tips

Kia Ora

Summer is well and truely arrived... so here are some tips on keeping your precious steed running as well as possible.

1 - Wipe and oil your chain every ride
This might sound excessive, but this is the number one thing to keep your bike riding nice, and the drive chain lasting well. Always have a rag or two with you and before you get on your bike, run the chain through the rag until you get all the grit and grime off. Then apply a thin lube (my personal favourite is Finish Line Ceramic Wax Lube)... put plenty on, then let it sit, before wiping it off again.

2 - Cleaning your bike
Your bike is not made from concrete (hopefully), so DONT use a water blaster on it! The best way to wash your bike is with a sponge and a bucket of soapy water. You can just use dish washing liquid, as it works great. If you want to get fancy, the best product we know is probablyMuc Off

3 - Ride your bike, a lot
Your bike gets lonely if you don't take her along on your holiday with you. Bikes need love just like your children/pets.

If you are unsure and need help, we are open every day (except stat days). We work on all brands and types.
