"Ladies Who Love To Ride" Weekly Women's Rides

Welcome Back!

Our "Ladies Who Love To Ride" group is starting back up for the 2018/2019 season! Yahoooo!

Now that daylight savings is fast approaching (30th September), we have enough daylight in the early evenings to be able to get back out on our bikes and enjoy some evening rides!

Our aim is to encourage more women into the sport of mountain biking. These weekly rides have been a huge success over the past few seasons, with many new women coming and experiencing the sport, making new friends to ride with and gaining the confidence to explore the great trails we have here in Dunedin!

This ride is for all women who love to ride their bike, aimed at all ages and is very much beginner focused.  So if  you want to start mountain biking, get back into it after a hiatus, improve confidence, gain basic bike skills and meet some amazing ladies then this is the ride for you! We also see our regular ladies improve throughout the season in confidence, fitness and bike handling skills!

We meet every Tuesday for a 6.15pm start. We change the location of our rides up throughout the season, check out our specific "Ladies Who Love To Ride" Facebook Group for all the information you need! The ride details will be posted on this page on Monday afternoons.

This season we have a brilliant  group of voluntary ride guides! We are not coaches but our role is to support you up and down the tracks, as well as pointing out some basic bike handling skills along the way. We all love a giggle and light-hearted banter is mandatory! This year we have a few more ride guides in the mix;  Catherine Shayler, Nat Munns, Rowena Geisreiter, Sam Hope, Shannon Hope, Devonia Kruimer and Roshni Mistry.  We have an increased number of guides on board this year to assist and manage our ever growing numbers. It is really special to have the help of these fabulous and experienced women from the Dunedin mountain biking community!

Meet Our Ride Guides

Nat Munns

Nat works with us at Bike Otago and LOVES everything bike! She is super passionate about encouraging women into mountain biking and thrives on seeing the progression of our ladies through the season! Nat has been biking most of her life and loves nothing more than sharing her knowledge and passion with other women.

 Roshni Mistry

Roshni is very much the head of the Bike Otago family and one of the main instigators of the Ladies Who Love To Ride Group! Roshni enjoy's family bike rides and bringing people together- which makes her a perfect ride guide!

Rowena Geisreiter

Ro has been guiding with us for one season and we are stoked to have her back for this season too! Ro is a coach part time at Bike School so has a wealth of knoweldge and is fantastic with encouraging ladies to push their boundaries.

Sam Hope

We are lucky enough to have Sam working with us at Bike Otago, she is a wee super star! Sam is a Dunners girl and has been biking for most of her life! She has a great skill set on the bike and loves to share her knowledge and passion for biking with others!

Shannon Hope

Shannon and Sam are sisters and most people think they are twins- you'll be hard-pressed to tell them apart! Like Sam, Shannon has been in to biking most of her life too. Just like her sister, Shannon is always smiling, encouraging and will make you have a great time on your bike!

Catherine Shayler

Catherine has been with the ladies who love to ride group for several seasons and absolutely loves riding her bike. She is a brilliant guide, relate-able, patient and super friendly it's hard not to love Catherine!

 Devonia Kruimer

Devonia's love for mountain biking really started a couple of years ago when she started coming to our ladies who love to ride group! She's grown to love the sport of MTB and we're lucky to have her on board this season to give us a helping hand on our rides!

Our ride guides are all voluntary and do it for their sheer passion of Mountain Biking and social enjoyment! Our rides are free but we do ask for a gold coin donation if you wish, which goes towards all the efforts that our guides put in!

The bottom line is that we all want to support and encourage women into the sport, and if we can open people's mind's to the world of mountain biking then we have achieved our goal!

We ride rain or shine (although sometimes too much rain leads us astray to the pub)! Over the winter months we hold a number of Womens only 'special events' such as mechanical and maintenance workshops, yoga and special rides.

Any questions please give us a call at the store 03 477 7396 or flick Nat an email at nat@bikeotago.co.nz

We look forward to seeing you all at the first ride back on the 9th October, Signal Hill at 6.15pm!
