Partnering with Capital Cycles - roadie experts here we come!

You might think of Bike Otago as being a mountain-only store, but we're all part-time roadies too. In fact, Bike Otago's owner, Kashi Leuchs, has a long history with road racing, including representing New Zealand in the 2002 Commonwealth Games.  Since we're a growing little store, we've now got the space to start playing the roadie game properly - and to increase the availability of bikes, we've partnered with road experts Capital Cycles. BMC is our brand of choice - not only do we keep BMCs in stock, but we're also able to get any BMC from Capital Cycles at the awesome prices below (or check their website here for more!) This means you get the great pricing and the expertise...

Bike Otago Women's-Only Ride Day! 24th May, Central Otago

Join the Bike Otago womens' fun riding group for an adventure to Alexandra with Scarlet Hagen on Sunday 24th May.  Everyone is welcome, but you must be female and the riding will be aimed at beginner level riders. Depending on numbers we may split into different groups for certain sections. We should be on the bikes by 1pm and depending how people are feeling, we...

Customer review - Pedego electric bikes

As a service-oriented shop we're always keen to get real customer reviews. Michael and Sonja were keen on a pair of new e-bikes, and took the plunge on a pair of top-of-the-range Pedegos - an orange Interceptor and a Seafoam Green cruiser. Michael writes:  "I am really enjoying the Pedego bike. The hills also don’t bother us, as we went up Upper Junction Road and over to Waitati for a coffee...

How to size adult and child helmets - with TSG

We've got in a new range of helmets from Park & Urban experts TSG - available in child, youth, and adult sizes. For now these are just available in store, not online... People often ask us what size helmet their child needs. Rather than going by age, we think it's best to measure your child's head (circumference just above the eyebrows) to get the best fit.   Using the TSG range to illustrate this, The Nipper Mini is 48-51cm, $80, and we've got a Panda-themed one (as well as many others to order)The Evolution Youth is 52-54cm, $70, and we've got matte orange in stock The Evolution and Kraken are adult helmets, available in S/M (54-56cm) and L/XL (57-59cm), and come in all sorts...
