About Us

Tena koe, We're Black Seal Imports — Yeti Cycles' New Zealand home since 2010. Founded in Dunedin. Run today out of Rotorua.

We sell one brand. Properly.

who is blackseal

Founded 2010, Dunedin. Fifteen years of distributing the brands we loved.

Now we do one thing: Yeti.

After fifteen years of carrying multiple brands, we made the call — focus on one. Yeti Cycles. The bikes Kashi rode. The bikes we'd recommend to a mate if no one was paying us to. The brand we want to put the next ten years into.

One brand. Yeti USA builds them. We bring them home, build them, back them, and ride them.

Our People

Kashi

Owner

Kashi Leuchs grew up riding in Dunedin and ended up making a life out of it. He turned pro in 1999 with Volvo Cannondale and moved to Annecy, France, to race on the international circuit — thirteen years of it, riding for Cannondale, Bianchi and Trek. Along the way he pulled on the New Zealand jersey at three Olympic Games (Sydney, Athens, Beijing) and two Commonwealth Games, with a World Cup marathon win at Val Thorens in 2006 and 4th in the XC at Manchester in 2002.
When the racing ran its course, he went looking for the next thing. The chance to bring Yeti Cycles to New Zealand came up, and he took it.
Kashi and his wife Roshni have two kids, Jasper and Laksmi, who've taken to racing downhill themselves. The family moved from Dunedin to Rotorua in 2022 — closer to Roshni's family, and right in the middle of some of the best riding in the country.
These days life is built around the bike: trails out the back door, weekends at the races, and a town where everyone you know rides. It's a pretty good way to live.

Dylan

parts

Dylan Walton is a rider born and raised in Rotorua. Having had his first mountain bike ride at 4 years old, he's spent many many hours in the golden loam of Rotorua.
While growing up, he leaned toward Enduro for the adventure and big days, which carried him to corners of NZ, Tasmania and Europe chasing enduro races. Some highlighted racing and riding locations are Canazei, Aletsch Glacier, Morzine, and Bielsko-Biala.
After finishing school, Dylan completed a Bachelor of Sport Coaching through correspondence, sometimes submitting assignments the night before World Cup races or completing tests in his van the morning of National Champs in Cable Bay.
Nowadays, Dylan works part-time for Yeti NZ while also coaching riders both on the trail and in the gym. There's also time made for bigger pedal missions and fun laps around Rotorua.

Social Media

Doom scrolling your feed, whacking fire emojis in the comments, yep, that's me. I look after the social media, so if you've ever had a like or a hype comment from us, we've already met.
I only discovered mountain biking in my late 20s, but I was instantly hooked. Adding an e-bike to the mix a few years later only deepened the addiction. Every weekend you'll find me out in the forest draining both my battery and my bike's, soaking up as many trails (and as much nature) as I can.
When I'm not on the trails, I work as a graphic designer — so this sport is the perfect balance to all that screen time.

Winnie

Director of First Impressions

Hi, I'm Winnie! 🐾
I'm a Cavoodle! My job is to make new friends, bark and accept as many pats as possible.
When I'm off duty, you'll usually find me having a scamper through the Whakarewarewa. My favourite tracks are Box of Birds, Whaki, and Apumoana—perfect for sniffing out wallabies, exploring, and stretching my legs. I love meeting people, discovering new smells, and barking!!!

Rotorua Showroom

The home base is on Amohau Street, Rotorua. Right alongside Ride Rotorua. Drop in. The sliding door's usually open. Have a look at the bikes, talk to whoever's around, grab a coffee from next door. We're a small team and you'll often find it's just Kashi in the back of the workshop — please, feel free to knock or open the sliding door to say hello.

Our Ambassadors

We don't run on customers. We run on riders. The Yeti NZ Ambassador team — racers, packed-lunch enduro crews, parents teaching kids to ride.

What's next

In 2026 we launch the Service Centre network. Coming up next: a bigger Rotorua HQ on the new Lot 8 site, more demo bikes around the country, a customer-account portal with bike registration and service history. We're not done. Still down.
