Terms, Rewards & Privacy

Black Seal Imports · Yeti Rider Portal. Last updated June 2026.

This is a plain-English summary of how the rider portal, the No BS Warranty, YETI $ rewards and your information work. It's written to be clear and fair, not to take away any rights you have by law.

1. Your rights under New Zealand law

If you bought your bike or gear as a consumer, you have guarantees under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and protection under the Fair Trading Act 1986. Those rights apply automatically and cannot be taken away or reduced by anything on this page or by any warranty we offer.

Anything below — including our No BS Warranty, YETI $ rewards and promotions — is offered in addition to your Consumer Guarantees Act rights, never instead of them.

If something you bought from us isn't of acceptable quality, we'll put it right as the law requires. Your statutory rights sit with whoever sold you the goods, so if you bought a bike second-hand from a private seller, your Consumer Guarantees Act rights are generally against that seller.

2. The No BS Warranty

Our voluntary No BS Warranty covers manufacturing defects for the original owner of the bike, for as long as they own it, subject to the full terms on the No BS Warranty page. To make a claim we may ask for proof of purchase, so please keep your invoice.

Second-hand owners

The voluntary No BS Warranty is for original owners only and doesn't transfer when a bike is sold. If you bought your Yeti second-hand, you're still looked after by our Crash Replacement programme — if you write the frame off in a crash, we'll help you onto a new one at a special price. This is a goodwill offer, not a guarantee, and any consumer rights you have against the person who sold you the bike are unaffected.

3. YETI $ rewards

YETI $ is a loyalty reward, not cash and not a gift card you buy. We may give you YETI $ for things like spending in store, referring a friend, having your bike serviced at an authorised service centre, or for taking part in a promotion.

  • 1 YETI $ is worth NZ$1 as credit toward Black Seal purchases once redemption is available. It can't be exchanged for cash or transferred to another person.
  • If you return or cancel an order that earned YETI $, we may reverse the YETI $ earned on it.
  • YETI $ has no cash value, is issued at our discretion, and we may correct obvious errors.
  • We may change, pause or end the YETI $ scheme, or change how it's earned or redeemed, by updating this page. We'll give reasonable notice of material changes and won't take away YETI $ you've already earned without good reason.
  • If your account is closed, any unused YETI $ balance is forfeited.

4. Promotions

20 YETI $ — claim, complete & join the wall (by 30 June)

Register your bike, add its details and have your photo approved on the Whānau Wall before 30 June to receive 20 YETI $. One bonus per rider. We may verify eligibility and may vary or withdraw the offer.

Refer a mate — 100 YETI $ each

If you refer someone new to Yeti and they buy their first bike after adding your code, you each receive 100 YETI $. It's for genuinely new riders — existing bike owners aren't eligible, and you can only be referred once. We may vary or withdraw this offer and may decline rewards we believe are not genuine.

5. Your information & privacy

We handle your information in line with the Privacy Act 2020. Here's the plain version.

What we collect

  • Your account details (name, email) and the bikes you register (model, serial, photos, notes).
  • Proof of purchase you upload to verify ownership.
  • Contact details and service requests when you book a service.
  • Photos, your first name and comments you choose to submit to the Whānau Wall.

Why, and who sees it

  • To run your rider account, verify ownership, handle warranty and service, and run YETI $ rewards.
  • When you book a service, the service centre you choose receives your name, contact details and what you need done, so they can book you in.
  • Uploaded invoices are kept private and used only to verify ownership.
  • We don't sell your information.

The Whānau Wall

The wall is public. We only show a photo, your first name and your comment after you tick the consent box and we've approved it. Please don't upload photos of other people without their okay. You can ask us to remove your entry at any time — just email service@blackseal.co.nz.

Your choices

You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing service@blackseal.co.nz. We keep information only as long as we reasonably need it, and we take reasonable steps to keep it secure.

6. Contact

Questions about any of this? Email service@blackseal.co.nz and we'll help. If you're ever unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
